Title: glass right down the middle [1/4]
Fandom: Star Trek XI.
Characters: everyone, with focus on Kirk and McCoy, with a hefty dose of Sulu.
Word Count: ~7877
Rating: 12(ish)
Summary: “He still doesn’t like Jim going down to alien planets on his own, and it’s not just because of the whole I’m-the-Captain-hear-me-roar-and-watch-me-get-my-ass-handed-to-me thing that Jim’s got going on.” But sometimes you’re so focused on the danger to others that you forget about the danger to yourself. Kirk/Bones.
Warnings: language, some potentially disturbing imagery
Notes: inspired by this prompt on [info]st_xi_kink. Sequel(ish) to sealed by a fragile touch and fingerprints of forgotten memories. The [1/4], as always, is provisional. Also? You guys are going to kill me. I'm going to Greece in about fifteen hours, and I'll be there with no Internet access for two weeks. So, there won't be any more for two weeks. *hides*

NO. NO NO NO. IANTO PLEASE NO.

I am in fucking tears right now. And I'm shaking. God, that was beautiful and heartbreaking and no.

If the next episode doesn't fix this, I'm going to be a mess.

On a less flaily, ohshiti'mcrying note, before Torchwood BROKE MY HEART, I did settle on a name for the fingerprints sequel: glass right down the middle. And it should be up tomorrow, or maybe tonight. *wipes tears away*

*dances* Oliver! was awesome, and London was wicked (if rainy :D). I managed to spend eighty quid in a day, whilst spending most of said day either on the train or in the theatre. No, I don't understand it either. Although I did randomly buy season 5 of Voyager. I liked Voyager - Paris is cute, and B'Elanna just rocks. XDD

Oh, and Rowan Atkinson? Was just awesome. I mean, his first line was just "What?" (said in this really pissy way which just reminded me so much of Blackadder :D), and everyone in the audience cheered. *squees* And BURN GORMAN. Who was amazing - seriously, he was so gravelly and rough and Sikes-y and and-- *flails*

On a slightly more geeky note, on the way back I was reading Aeschylus again, and I read these few lines (obviously not my translation):

CASSANDRA:
Oh no, what horror, what new plot,
new agony this? -
it's growing, massing, deep in the house,
a plot, a monstrous - thing
to crush the loved ones, no,
there is no cure, and rescue's far away and -

*flails* HOUSE OF LEAVES. GET THAT BOOK OUT OF MY CLASSICS! *breathes*

:D ♥

I think my fic for [info]trek_exchange is going to be based around Chekov and Sulu. *is surprised* And possibly Scotty - with nothing but background Kirk/Bones. What's happening to me? :D

But another Trek-related annoucement? Yes, there will be a third in the sealed/fingerprints trilogy. And I think it'll be something more of an ensemble fic, but still with the emphasis heavily on my damaged, co-dependent boys. And Sulu. I don't understand this: I've just had the urge to write Sulu. *flails in a confused fashion*

I think I'm going to treat this fic as my warm-up for [info]startrekbigbang, which means that it will probably end up fairly long with some thick plot (heh, like fingerprints wasn't long enough *facepalm*). Also, quick question: who else is doing a Big Bang fic? :D We should all get together and cheerlead each other. *cheerleads you all*

I'm going to London tomorrow to see Oliver! in the West End, with Rowan Atkinson and Burn Gorman. *fangirls* :DD It's for a friend's birthday in the year below, and... Yeah. *thinks* This friend can be... difficult to deal with in long doses. She's awesome, and really loyal (and hell, awesome for inviting me to frickin' London), but still. I think I'll take a pad and pen and spend the journey down working on the fingerprints sequel.

Ah, it'll be awesome.

On a note of awesomeness: TORCHWOOD. *flails* OMG IT WAS AWESOME. BECAUSE JACK. AND GWEN. AND IANTO. AND THE PICTURE OF OWEN AND TOSH AND-- *tear* Anyone else see it?

... well, sorta. :D

Grade 8 flute: pass, with merit. *vbg* Hell, considering the atrocity that was my scales, that's fantastic. :DD I mean, the pieces are the bits I care about the most, and they were all distinction marks - and overall, it was 127, where 130 is a distinction. So, three off.

*facepalm* So near, yet so far. :D

But it's all good. I'm debating whether to do my diploma next year or not - it would be helpful for getting into an orchestra if I get into Oxford (*crosses fingers*), but it would involve a lot of work. I mean, for the proper, recognised diplomas, you have to perform a program of 30-35 minutes. Which is a lot. I mean, after my grade 8 exam (maybe 25/30 minutes), I was whacked out.

Hmm. *thinks*

Anyway.

Also? The sequelish thing to fingerprints is nagging at me. Except... Well, I don't know. I'm away on Wednesday, and then going to Greece for a fortnight on Saturday. I might have something coherent before then. I might.

Damn those poor, fucked-up boys. ♥

Title: fingerprints of forgotten memories [4/4]
Fandom: Star Trek XI.
Characters: everyone, with focus on Kirk and McCoy.
Word Count: 7674 (overall: 27164 :D)
Rating: 12(ish)
Summary: “Jim presses his palm to his forehead, because suddenly there’s just a big fuzzy blip where the name of the planet used to be.” Mistakes that aren’t mistakes can snowball into something else entirely. Kirk/Bones.
Warnings: referenced date rape, language, some half-graphic descriptions of violence
Notes: written for this prompt on [info]st_xi_kink. Sequel(ish) to sealed by a fragile touch. Wow. It's done. Also, this is very much over 25k, and I wrote it in about a fortnight, so that makes me hopeful for [info]startrekbigbang. XD

*gets a bit flaily* I think fingerprints might nearly be done! At this rate, the final part will be up (late?) tomorrow.

Just one thing, though. This is a line from the last scene I wrote:

"The quiet hums in Jim’s brain. He can feel himself wavering, shaking."

That does not bode well. *sad face*

Yeah, I should probably know how my fics are going to turn out, shouldn't I? :D But I just write them as they come to me, and I can very easily see this one being happy, sad, or just devastatingly bittersweet.

Oh, boys.

Also, there was this complete cow in the O2 shop in Harrogate today. She was treating the assistants like dirt, and I so wanted to just tell her what an uptight, arrogant little twat she was being. *sighs* People.

Okay. It's eleven o'clock at night, and my parents are running around outside, both with glasses of wine, throwing slugs into our next-door neighbours' gardens.

My family can be a bit weird. :D ♥

Yeah, another day not writing fingerprints and eating too much. Frozen jelly babies - oddly nice. :D

Here’s how it works: Reply to this meme by yelling "Words!" and I will give you five words that remind me of you. Then post them in your LJ and explain what they mean to you.

My five words from [info]punkfunkdisco:

Bones
And not "bones" as in things-in-the-body or, as [info]punkfunkdisco put it, "random archaelogical findings" - Bones as in Bones, subject of much fic-writing lately, from Star Trek. Bones makes me flail, because he's fun to write (even when he's being a grumpy bastard) and because I love his long-suffering attitude to Jim in XI. Also, I've been writing him so much recently in sealed and fingerprints that I've started peppering my everyday speech with "damnit"s and "goddamnit"s. *facepalm* :D

Homer
And not Simpson, either. The mere mention of Homer gets me all excited, because Iliad and Odyssey are just about some of the most well-crafted tales I've read, and they're so evocative and steeped in culture and mythology, too. Then, there's the whole conspiracy theory that Homer never existed, and that they were written by a group of bards who just created Homer, but I prefer the idea of a real Homer. He's an inspiration, because his tales have lasted since the eighth century BC, which is kinda a long time ago. ♥

fluting
*grabby hands* Ohh, my flute. The one instrument I've kept going and the thing that causes me so much stress in my life. My Powell Signature, bought for a stupid amount. An amount which totally wasn't about two and a half grand. :D I love my flute, and I love how versatile its sound can be and how it's a gorgeous instrument to look at and how as a flautist in an orchestra you always get the high, intricate fiddly parts which are both fun and annoying. *vbg*

writing
My life, pretty much. I mean, I'm a classicist first and foremost, and that's what I was to do at uni/possibly in later life, but I will always write. Because it's fun. And I get annoyed when people say that writing fanfiction isn't "real writing", too, because, in many ways, it's harder than writing original fiction. I love the way words come together to create stories and images, and how a well-written, suspenseful plot can leave you gasping for more. ♥♥

The History Boys
:D Oh, THB. My absolute favourite play ever, and one of the subjects of my English Lit AS coursework - an essay that was supposedly on the female voice, but which I spent two hours going through it to find out a way to talk about Scripps, because he's too awesome to be missed out. THB makes me cry with laughter and then makes my heart break, and I love it so much. :D

*vbg* Happy now. ♥

Okay, I know I'm spamming today, but I think I've gone nuts. *facepalm* Yeah, I totally just went and signed up for [info]startrekbigbang. :DDD ♥

So yeah. Bit of pimpage, here, because I can predict this taking over my life...

[info]startrekbigbang[info]startrekbigbang[info]startrekbigbang

There will be Kirk/Bones (obviously), but yeah. I glanced at my bookshelf about five minutes after I signed up, and there were sitting Aeschylus and Herodotus. *facepalm* Yeah, the bunnies have bit, damnit.

Welcome to Gaia IV, bitches. :DD And if anyone except me understands that, *huuuuuuuugs*.

Also, I am now going to go and hopefully write a couple of pages of fingerprints. And I will do no more spamming today. :DD ♥♥♥
